Tempus have partnered NEC to offer the thin client system called the Virtual PC Center (VPCC).

NEC's new thin client system is ideally suited to secondary and FE establishments.  The solution integrates and centralises a school's assets, such as data and applications, onto a cluster of servers in order to fulfill three requirements: Improve security, Reduced the Total Cost of Ownership and enhance security.

Thin Client has always been seen as a way of reducing costs for large network.  Where other thin client solution fails, the new NEC system boasts full audio and a graphics accelerator ensuring video on a par with any standard network PC!

The thin client is neatly packaged into a case that measures 15x10cm!! Supplied with a caddy designed to fit to the rear of an LCD panel, the system represents the ultimate in space saving technology.

With the savings made on thin client terminals against traditional PCs, the reduced cost of network management and maintenance as well as dramatic cuts in power consumption (up to 60%) - this has to be the way forward for large networks of the future!
